MAITRĪ PROGRAMME
Maitrī : pronounced "my-trree"
मैत्री
Sanskrit: "loving-kindness"; the cultivation of benevolence and compassion for all beings, including yourself.
WHAT IS THE MAITRĪ PROGRAMME?
The Maitrī Programme has been created to allow people with a low income to access the therapeutic practices of yoga, to help them take steps towards reducing pain, replenishing energy and bringing their body-mind back into balance.
Somatic Yoga works to create a resilient nervous system, which can have a significant impact on physical well-being, emotional regulation and cognition, helping you to create the foundations of a strong and healthy body-mind. However, please note that Somatic Yoga is a complementary therapy rather than a replacement for medical care. If you currently have an acute injury or are in crisis, please contact a medical professional or helpline as soon as possible.
THE PROCESS OF APPLICATION
The Maitrī Programme is currently open all year round. You simply need to consider whether you would like to work with me for 6 weeks and if you are able to commit to the process; if you are, great! Please complete the application at the bottom of this page and ensure that you include all the relevant information, such as why you are seeking 1:1 sessions and how you hope it will help you.
I will review the application and arrange to have a consultation with you, and at this point, if either of us feels that this isn't the best way forward, then there is no obligation to continue. The therapeutic relationship between us is an essential aspect of this work, so it is important that you feel safe and at ease.
MAITRĪ PROGRAMME FAQs
Q: How many sessions does the programme include?
A: The Maitrī Programme includes 6 sessions to be taken within 12 weeks.
Q. I have already previously applied for the Maitrī Programme. Can I apply again?
A. Yes, of course. You may apply for any or all of the Maitrī Programme offerings as they come up throughout the year. However, please understand that applications are accepted on the bases of who I believe will benefit most from this offering.
Q: Will I need to provide evidence of my financial situation?
A: Not at all. If you are applying for the Maitrī Programme, I trust that you feel that you would benefit from Somatic Yoga, but are unable to fund the usual 1:1 Package prices.
Q: Are all 1:1 sessions confidential?
A: Yes. Although my supervisors at The Yoga Therapy Institute will oversee my cases to ensure that you receive the best possible care and support, they are kept anonymous.
Q: Are all the sessions online?
A: Yes, all 1:1 sessions take place via Zoom. Being able to conduct sessions online means that you are surrounded by the comfort of your own home. This way of working also makes it much easier for you to participate in the session, as you do not have to worry about taking extra time out of your day to travel to a studio, pay for parking etc. This is often a great relief to those dealing with chronic pain or limited mobility.
